Whatever!

Did anyone see the show "Whatever" on Channel 4 tonight?

Now I'm not usually a prude, though I do harbour a deep-seated resentment of most of today's 'yoof', but if this show reflects the future of television and indeed the state of today's 'yoof' then I thank Christ I'm getting on in years and only have a few more decades to endure.

As I was watching it, I couldn't help but get flashbacks of similar self-proclaimed baddies in the Bad Lad's Army TV show as they cry at the first sign of authority, or quiver when being asked to jump from a height of more than two metres, or collapse after running half a mile.

Maybe I'm just getting grumpier as I get older (37) but I've lost count of the times this week that I've been watching TV while seriously asking myself what the hell am I paying for? I am sick to death of being force-fed the most arid and banal individuals soak their egos into the stench-filled bath of celebrity while producers who really should know better help indulge their deluded minds into believing that they are actually entertaining people.

Now, where are my Wurther's Originals....

lol I didn't catch it but yes... watching TV does make me feel old!

ITV/sky are major culprits for dumbing down TV - their news is more like childrens newsround and whats that with those silly illustrations that er, don't illustrate anything

Chuck me a Wurther's will ya
