To pad/paper train or not?

I paper trained my then puppy 3 years ago, then trained him to go into the garden.

My son said its best just to train from the start to go out into the garden with the new puppy we'll be getting as it's just training once instead of twice ( once on pads then in the garden). What do you guys think?

I agree with your son , if you have easy access to a garden then dont bother with the pee pads.

If a puppy develops a preference for a substrate (pee pads) it can be gard hard to get them to wee on another surface such as grass. Also you dont want your puppy to think tis acceptable to go to the toilet indoors.

I'd say garden especially as you also have Bailey to help point Jake in the right direction

Will certainly start outside then. I didn't think when we had Bailey & my son pointed it out sometime later but it certainy makes sense.
