Vetbed & large dogs

How do you wash a large bit of vetbed, i really cant see how i would get our large piece of vetbed in the washer without breaking the washer, think i will have to cut it in half

I was using the local launderette until it closed. Not only did I have vetbed for the adults I had 3 big pieces for the whelping box so I had to bite the bullet and invest in an industrial sized washing machine (whirlpool top loader). It's been a godsend, over 12 years old, had a few repairs along the way (under insurance) but is still going.

How big is big, the bit Syd has fits into the washing machine easily enough, it's been washed loads of times and is now easier to get into the machine as the base isn't so stiff.
Also I thought launderettes refused to allow the washing of dogs bedding as other users complain of dog hairs on their washing when using the machine after you. Not that I even know where a launderette is these days.

I never used to be able to get the large sized vetbed type fleeces in the washing machine in one piece. Until my mum bought a new washing machine. Ordinary sized front loader but with a 8 kg drum rather than the standard 5-6kg. They fit in no problem now.

We upgraded our washing machine, and got a bigger drum as I was my horses boots/saddle cloths etc in there too.... Amazing how much more you can fit in!

Some laundrettes though do let you wash pet bedding though.

My launderette won't!

I shove mine in the machine..... But, if you are clever sewing wise could you cut it in two and fit a zip to it?
