birds nest in shed, advice needed plz

i went round my mums the the other day, to help her pack as she is movin soon and she mentioned that her friend had noticed a robin fly out of my mums shed, so i looked in there and found a nest with 5 eggs inside. i told mum to leave it and we will sort the shed out later when they have gone. but her place has come though much quicker than we thought and she is to move into her new place next monday.
i checked on the nest today and the mum or dad was in there sitting on the eggs. she cant clear the shed out while the nest is there but isnt allowed to leave anything behind as she will get charged and i am worried if the council will touch the nest.
are robins protected and does anyone know who can i contact to find out what to do?
i will go to the council tomorrow but is there a wildlife place i can contact? i live in basildon essex.

How did you get on?

My neighbour has a similar problem but with sparrows in her roof actually inside the eaves we think. The council won't disturb the nest until the chicks are gone, so she was told.

Hope the babies are okay

It's actually an offence to move/destroy a wild bird's nest whilst they are building/using the nest.

So the nest/birds cannot be disturbed until they stop using the nest

Oh right, I didn't know that at the time, wish I had I would have told him off for it. Git! Poor housemartins. I did tell him he was talking rubbish but he wouldn't listen to me, we had a falling out about it tbh. We are talking a few years ago now.
