An update from Antoine, one of our kindly volunteers:

"Mr. D'arcy's recall skills are so good, I am really wondering if this was not his name already in his previous life! LOL!

He really loves going out on his walks, and never wanders around further than a few meters away, always looking back to check you are still here...".

Mr Darcy was taken out for the weekend by one of our volunteers to break the kennel monotony. Here is her update:

"Darcy’s trip to Brighton

We had a lovely walk with Darcy before leaving the kennels and then with the minimum of persuasion he jumped into the crate and it was away to the seaside. Had to make a stop in East Brighton - big mistake! Poor Darcy was petrified of the traffic and a skip was seen as some sort of monster and as for a bus well what terror that caused. Worse still he bucked like a bronco and refused to get back into the car. Decided we would have to walk the rest of the way home so as not to distress him further. Thought we might have to dial for xxlynne!!!!

So we had to walk all 7 miles. Perhaps it was Darcy’s protest at missing the sponsored walk up Box hill. He did not begin to tire until we had covered 6 ˝ miles, but once he saw the park he was ready to go again. By the time we reached home he was tolerating traffic better and sitting at kerbs. Every cloud has a silver lining. He met Maggie and was rearing to go again. I wish we were!

He cried at night and when he was left in the kitchen and we felt he was anxious not to lose us. He took a while to trust and seemed to particularly like my husband crying when he left the house even though the rest of us were with him. Generally he presented as very nervous and was frightened of all sorts of things, the washing on the line etc.

By Sunday he had chilled and felt he could snooze without having to keep one eye open. He loves to play with toys and chews not always just his toys though! He tried the kitchen cupboard, stair carpet, piano stool leg etc.

Darcy likes to play fully on so we had to take the relationship with Maggie very slowly as she likes to play full on as well. He does however seem to want to approach all dogs in the same way and needs to learn that not all dogs like full on play.

By Monday he was more trusting and ready to receive cuddles and Maggie and him gave one another a full facial wash.

It was with heavy hearts we returned him to kennels .

Below is the link to some more photos of Mr D'Arcy and videos of him playing in the garden.

The dashingly handsome Mr Darcy :

Mr Darcy is currently in boarding kennels and would benefit from a foster home until his forever home comes along. Can you help him?

Homing Requirements: Good all round dog who happens to be a Staffie. Friendly with other dogs. He gets frightened in new situations but instinct is to retreat. So wants to trust and is very friendly outside and welcomes approach.

His Story: Found stray and unclaimed. Now neutered, vax'd and chipped.

Advert: Mr Darcy is a brilliant 12-18 month old Staffie, a gentleman ... gentle and kind. He loves life, his walks and meeting other dogs. Fine with other dogs even those barking directly at him, though quite bouncy and he has playful manner. Would love to play rough and tumble. As he matures he will be a good off lead dog once he gains confidence in the outside world. Mr D'Arcy's house training is good. Currently needy for company, settles at night.

Mr Darcy is handsome and in good health. Good with children, is exuberant and a bit mouthy as still young. Takes treats gently. Generally good around with food, not possessive. Loves toys and to play the game of here it is try and get it. Develops strong bonds with men in particular. What can we say; Mr Darcy will make a perfect friend for a worthy family.

If you are interested in re-homing please complete our homing questionnaire https://rescueremedies.wufoo.com/forms/r7x3s5/ so we can ensure our dogs are matched and will suit your circumstances/lifestyle.
