Oh dear! does the tank have a filter and pump? if not you could try this..
you could try getting some air into the water pour some of the water out and put the tank under the tap and let fresh water trickle (not nigera falls) into the tank to freshen it up and put air into it may be worth a shot... my husband once gave a fish the kiss of life and it lived on for another year! but that was floating..

hope this helps

Thanks for the reply MJ yes the tank has a filter and a pump in fact the current is the only reason the fish moves at all. We have put it in our spare tank so it doesnt get bumped about by the other fish but that also has a filter and pump.

I think its hopeless dont you?

yes i think so if its just laying there are its gills moving and showing signs of breathing etc.. You may have to send it for the big swim to the sea..

Please do not put it in fresh tap water ....water should be treated and matured before fish are added.
How long is it since you did a water change?Did you use tap water?how much did you change and did you clean the filter...if so how?

both tanks are long running tanks, the spare one we use when we clean out the main tank, all water has been treated etc both tanks are cycled and have been for a long while, this has come out of the blue, all the other fish are fine.

There was a thread recently which might help I hope
Sound like Swim Bladder for which the main symptom is turning upside down.
