This is why I never pursued my childhood desire to be in the RSPCA - I have a barbaric streak myself, just not towards animals....

Personally if I found whoever did that, I'd bind their legs with a chain, chuck them in the canal and set up a picnic chair to see if they fared any better than the poor dog they tortured.
