What to do about ticks?

I treat Millie with Frontline plus for cats and dogs but she still picks up ticks from our garden!! I have been keeping chickens for years which often free range and they have never picked up any ticks.

Frontline plus is clearly labled as a deterent for ticks, fleas ect...

It is also an in date bottle

clearly it isnt working should I get her something stronger?? What would you recomend? She doesn't have any other parasite problems. Ticks just seem to love her blood and even after I have sprayed she still picks them up.

Unfortunately I also have a cat (used to go outside for years and never once picked up a tick))

I dont think Id be able to use the scalibur collar as it says cats maybe at risk and since my cat is very old I would not want to take that kind of chance.

Millie is brushed often alas that seems to be how I find so many of them! I was stroking her today and I spotted a new one on her ear which I removed with a tick remover (very tricky task with a young wrigly dog! ^^)

A good 2-3 times a week.

I don't treat fro ticks at all, I just hunt them down and pick them off, but having two short haired dogs they don't seem to pick them up to often.

As you've already got hens you could get a couple of Guinea Fowl, they can clear an area of ticks in no time.

Guinea Fowl make a lot of noise when frightened - with a mad dog like mine that just wouldnt go down well they can also fly 400ft straight up! Though its not uncommon for them to be seen 20-30ft in the trees shrieking at everything that may frighten them.

They would certainly not do well in an urban garden my neighbours would hate me!

It says so on the back of the box sitting in my cupboard, sold to me by my vet who knows I have cats too, so needless to say that's why it's still sitting in the cupboard
