So pleased to hear about her progress Kathryn.

I can understand your nervousness about off lead exercise. My Hoki had a cruciate ligament op 12 months ago and I'm afraid I still hold my breath and have a slightly sick feeling when she dashes off, particularly when she turns quickly.

I'm not sure if I'll ever stop worrying and I wonder whether you'll be the same. However, they get so much joy out of running free, I just couldn't not let her do it.

It's pretty disgusting how little interest the specialist had in Wicca isn't it - you would have expected him to really want to know how she was getting on.

Good luck with 'take the lead off day' in March - do keep us posted.

Well as if Wicca & I hadn't been through enough, as you know Wicca had actually been doing quite well & the physio & I were cautiously optimistic. 18th Feb came down to her hopping on three legs, straight to the vets they could only find sensitivity in her foot so didn't think too much was wrong the ususal rest was advised, week later no better would walk then hop back to vet, x-rayed foot nothing found & the tendon was not painful or sore to touch, told she was ok to walk. Went to physio who as soon as she saw her said its not the tendon its her back but very low down when she examined her Wicca really created she is usually very stoic although i am relieved its not the leg it just shows how much her abnormal posture has caused different problems, the lameness is due to pressure on the sciatic nerve -poor dog. Today she is better we have found an anti inflammatory drug she can tolerate at a very low dose+ the work the physio put into her must have made her feel more comfortable & her walking is much improved. All swimming has stopped in case she twisted awkwardly in the water (she is a bit keen). she goes back to the physio tomorrow hopefully this won't take too long to settle none of us can take much more, when i saw she was not using the leg I really felt the last 7 mths had been for nothing & she should have had the amputation at the start, keep fingers crossed for Wicca.
X K

I can imagine the gut-wrenching feeling you must have had when you saw her on 3 legs, but, of all the causes, this one is probably the best.

Sounds like you have a really good physio.

Fingers crossed for you both that this is the last hurdle on her way to recovery.

Oh dear, just as she was doing so well, along comes another problem for the poor girl. Thank goodness the physio was on the ball to notice what was actually wrong with her this time. I hope she just goes from strength to strength now on the new painkillers and doesn't cause any more damage to her sciatic nerve, that must be really painful for her, bless. I'm so sorry you're going through yet more trauma with Wicca. You just can't slow these dogs down can you I had an over-active gsd who I lost last July, but I'm sure she was a collie in her previous life and she was forever pulling something with her mad antics.

Got everything crossed for you yet again.xxxxAll the very best for both her and you, I know what a nightmare it must be for you too!xxxx

Boy oh boy what a brave dog she is going through all of that and as for you I'd have been at the end of my tether on many occasions over the months. It must be great seeing her go from strength to strength,I hope the latest set back she is having will be short lived and she'll go on again and get better.Good luck to the both of you, xxxxxxxxx

Better news for Wicca, she is much improved, now up to 40mins road walking ( not much for a previously working collie) but at least she is happier & seems to be using the leg reasonably well. The tolerance to the anti inflammatories only lasted 6dys but at least she didn't have the usual 3 days at the vets on a drip!!! still having weekly physio visits although mainly for her back.
thank you every one for your healing vibes & good wishes although its been a long long time & still not over the glimmer of light is back at the end of the tunnel.
Take care out there X K

That is good news.

I hope your 'roller coaster' ride is at an end and that there are no more 'downs'...only ups from now on.

PS how about a recent picture of her
