Even when I get back from an hour's walk, the frisbee still gets dumped at my feet!!!! Exhausted is an alien word around here, and I just wouldn't want to do that anyway, even though they tell me they haven't had enough when I get back, I know they have, and I have the last word!!!
shall i start singing ?
'you are not alone'
im with you, sibes 'self regulate' so wearing one of them out is a no go ,
with my other breeds(collie, csv.inuit)i believe 'over exercising' and not letting them use their brains as well, pumps adrenaline round their body and hypes them up to an unhappy state that is hard to get down from,a walk and time with your dogs is so much more than just 'running them ragged'

Funny you should say that John, but I just spotted a bit earlier on here (don't know if anyone else did???? ) so I sent the link to the mods asking them to quickly delete it (it really was quite shocking for an oldie like myself - what have I been missing I asked!!!!!! ). Anyways, in hindsight, I told them maybe we should have a bit more of that on here instead of all our rucks!!!!!

Thanks for that John, it's good to have one at least!!! A fan I mean!!!!!!

I stand by my belief that dogs need to get out daily. If someone can't be bothered walking their dog perhaps they shouldn't have one. There are at least a dozen dogs living on my street and only four of these go out every day. The rest you can hear barking or throwing themselves at the gate as you walk past. That's no life for a dog. My dogs come to work with me every day and I work around nine hours. It would be selfish of me to expect them to laze about all day if they haven't let off steam before hand. Their post work walk is very much appreciated too. That is their reward for being good all day.

Madison gets at least one hour per day but usually acompanys me when im walking other peoples dogs so can go out for two or three extra walks - the nice thing is that she is happy with whatever she gets, she doesn't pester for walks so on the odd occasion ive not been able to take her out shes fine with it.
Quality over quantity for sure.

I am sorry to say that I feel very sorry for this dog!

That is life chum. And millions of our pets have it and love it.
As I have said before, only the idiot brained consider the ideal in life, the more educated and intelligent acknowledge the practical constraints.

Alice in Wonderland ? Be my guest and keep reading the comics or looking at old Walt Disney films, but it will not make any difference to the loving but restricted life that millions of our pets simply have to live.

Don`t focus on what is ideal, that is incredibly stupid, focus on what is lovingly given and practical for the vast majorty of pet owners.

I am fed up with hearing the nonsensical prattlings of idealists. I live in the real world and have to make concessions like millions more. I myself and my family do not have an ideal life, so what on Earth is the brainless stupidiy of considering it for animals ? We give what we can.

I am so pleased I don't have to compare the life of MY pet dog to the life of a battery hen! I feel sorry for your dog if you do John Bull!

Please don`t feel sorry Moobli, you`re wasting your tears, my dog has a wonderful life, he loves it. Doted on like a Sultan. "Your wish is my command Kaiser".

Healthy as hell he is, wish I was as fit and spritely. Oh my gosh, he looks the epitome of everything a dog should look like. Makes your eyes water with pride. May chance Cruft`s next year, but maybe not since he does`nt eat Pedigree Chum.

Not sure where you get this battery hen fantasy from. Perhaps it is a loose derogatory description of a Londerner. Feels like it at times I must admit.

Anyhow, like I said earlier, what you never had you never miss. So even a battery hen is probably over the Moon with happiness.

The real world consists of taking responsibility for our pets.. and when you take on a dog , its fundamental needs are paramount in its well being... and exersice is right up there at the top.

You dont have to live in the country to exersice your dog, if you live in a concrete jungle as you do John, then whats to stop you walking your dog, I take i you do walk your dog John, or is it confined to a life of 4 walls and fences

You may be fed up of listening to the nonsensical prattling of idealists ( as you call them/us) but the boot fits well on your foot John,

I get a little fed up of your condescending , argumentative attitude to all those who disagree with you.

You know John, you got a little defensive in another post, were you accused members of being personal and rude towards you.

Yet you are happy to dish it out to others , you are incredibly patronising, and for what I see for no other reason other than to wind people up, with your nonsensical prattling.

Lets hope, this is just another one of your "bored moments" and not a true representative of your beliefs on a dogs exersice regime .

For my two, it's both.

Recently I've been really unwell and their walks have been pretty pants. Really short and not a lot in the way of game play or interaction really. Their behaviour has deteriorated as a result - obviously.

As far as I'm concerned, they need a decent length of walk, but they can come back after a longish walk, having not met any other dogs or played games and still need something more, equally, they can go for a relatively short walk, meet up with their doggy friends and have stimulation and get back tuckered out.

Unfortunately I can't walk very far or stand for very long so they don't get very long walks unless they go out with my mum or if I take Takara using the mobility scooter. However, I got dallies for a reason! They may be energetic but are happy to exercise themselves and will quite happily make do with mental stimulation at home if they only get a short walk!
