Probably not a lot to most of you, but we've just about cracked the toilet training with the boys!
I would say 1 or 2 accidents a week now, which are our fault for not realising how long it has been since their last toilet break.
Frankie has started to stand near the baby gate when he wants to go, which is good!

We've also cracked Sit, Down, Paw and 'Dance'!

Well done Hevver, sounds like the little lads are doing very well. I bet Dance is really cute

I'm pretty pleased with Cain at socialisation class today. He had the odd disagreement but nothing major. The main thing was there was this other dog pestering him and Cain was giving LOADS of appeasement signals unfortunately the other dog wasn't reading them they took the other dog out in the end as they didn't want Cain to think that his signals weren't working, but I think he was communicating really clearly I'm pleased with him. He also met a new dog today and did this weird bow and "woo woo" thing to try and instigate play.

Well done Cain

At the new house, there's a section of fence that's trellis, with some green garden wire stuff infront. Right where next door have a kennel & run for their little dog so I was predicting trouble with Casper going nuts at the sight of it. Not had a chance to get some scrap wood to stick infront of it, and he's only been out on a longline so it's not been an issue, if I've seen the pup out I've just walked out to the other end of the garden and kept Casper away.
But this morning I let Casper loose in the garden (trailing a line, incase he tried to hop the fence) and saw his ears prick up - pup was out in his kennel. However, we had a little woof then he came away when called every time, and he ignored it the rest of the time he was out there - good boy

Fantastic news from everyone. I love reading this thread.

I have a great mental image of Cain play-bowing and woo-wooing....did the other dog appreciate it?

Millie has learnt paw she is left handed wont do both but one is pretty good ^^

Thats her first trick!

She is getting more confident around people she doesnt flinch when they want to say hello. I have come to the conclussion that Millie suspicious of strangers rather then frightened of them as she does learn to trust eventually.

We went to pets at home yesterday (Millie did a fat poo in the store ) and she was happy saying hello to strangers their, wagging her tail but not confident enough to let them stroke her. Met a Tibetan Terrior (never seen one in the flesh)) which Millie quite liked as she kept saying hello

Glad she is getting more confident around people as she used to be soooooo shy like a rescue dog shy o.0''

Well done hevvur, glad the boys are getting the hang of toilet training

Great news about Cain at socialization, sounds like he is getting pretty good there.

That's good about Casper too you must be pleased that things are going well in the new house!

Well done pippam for teaching Millie paw, and sounds good that she's starting to grow in confidence

Aww well done on cracking the toilet training, it is great when they finally catch on. The tricks sound great fun too.

Sounds like Cain is really getting the hang of his social skills, even if the other dog doesn't always read them well. I hope the other dog took him up on his wooing invitation?

Good boy Casper for responding to the recall every time, despite wanting to woof at pup!

Millie sounds like she is increasing in confidence and doing well. Tess did a poo in Pets at Home once too. So embarassing.

Awwwww well done Casper I'm glad he's behaving so well in his new house. Hopefully you can get the fencing sorted soon and he can enjoy the garden without a longline soon

Sadly no, the other dog didn't take Cain up on it I don't think he was confident enough to play with boisterous Cain or he couldn't read the signals. That's the only (small) problem with the class is that it's mostly dogs who have communication issues in together along with the teaching dogs. Therefore sometimes when Cain displays proper doggy behaviour, sometimes the receipient is not able to read it properly and respond correctly which is a shame. Sometimes i wish i could set the same situation up but with normal dogs and see how well Cain does. But then I figure if he can learn to handle a group of problem dogs, the real world will be a doddle

I haven't been to reactive dog class, sheepdog training or much with Polo over the Christmas period, with being under the weather too it has all been on hold.

I took Polo to some playing fields that I would not normally take him too but was running short on time. He was really good whilst still on lead and saw a westie, a couple of miniature schnautzers and two labs. The schnauzers were yapping at each other and he pricked his ears and looked but did not tense up or react to anything.

Took Polo sheepdog training yesterday. I thought he might have forgotten what he had learnt but he hadn't, though I was a little rusty. I kept stumbling over the sheep. The trainer worked him for a few minutes and he was really working well for her so once I am up to scratch I think we may make a team. OH may actually let us loose on his sheep.

He shoved his nose under the schooling dog's tail and she saw him off like lightening. I think he was a little taken aback. Then he was posturing around another male collie that is rather rude but no punch ups and after Polo showing his displeasure at the humping attempts he initiated play with this same dog!!
