What do you suggest? .
You could try giving it a shock whenever it squeaks, that will stop it fast.

Please don't go down the e-collar route ~ it's cruel, unnecessary & can lead to severe ball behavioural problems in later life.

By far the kindest way to deal with "squeak disorders" is to make an appointment see a fully qualified member of the ABBC (Association of Ball Behaviour Counsellors). They will be able to show you how to cope with the squeaks & how best to prevent them.

The best way, IMO, is very gentle handling, preferably with soft mittens, or even sometimes by buying the poorly ball a very soft padded jacket.

You will also need to teach all members of your family, including canine ones, how to handle these balls with squeak disorders. Having a very soft mouth & clicking the dogs for non-squeaking seems to work very well for most ball owners.

But in future, you really must get the proper health checks done & go to a recognised ball breeder, before considering getting anymore balls. It's easy to tell if a ball has the genetic squeak disorder ~ hold the ball in the palm of your hand, apply a sharp, firm squeeze, & any squeak disorder should immediately become apparent.

Happy ball hunting

What - chuck it to Daisy? She is good at de-sqeaking balls but it seems a little harsh.

I have approached one with the qualification `Wimbledon Ball Boy`. Is this qualification adequate?

WBB's have absolutely no experience with squeak disorders, & definitely no idea about the gentle handling that these balls so desperately need. I suspect that the WBBs would say there's no cure & the ball should be pts.

Anyway can you imagine the outcry at Wimbledon if the balls were infected by the squeak disorder! They are only used to the pedgrre types like slazenger & Wilson ~ they'd be horrified if there was an outbreak of squeak disorder during Wimbledon ~ it could lead to a cull of tennis balls!

You could try practising your handling techniques with a raw egg ~ squeak disorders need much the same treatment.

Im starting to wonder if bringing rescue balls into the house is such a good idea. They are poorly socialised, can be infected with major diseases and cause jealousy and aggression from resident balls. If only people thought about what would happen when the balls grow up and are not as much fun. Somebody has to pick up the peices of all the broken balls. Maybe a ball amnesty or ban breeding for a while to bring numbers down is in order. Something needs to be done and soon!

Wait!!! On NO account should shock collars be used with raw eggs. They become extremely hard-boiled after exposure to electricity.

I have trained literally thousands of balls using my methods and as long as you stim the ball just before it squeaks it will stop it. You achieve nothing by gentle handling, you need to show the ball who is in charge.

If you stim balls it is not painful, just feels like a tickle, ask Adam.

Sorry I just dont agree with this way of training the balls, if you look closley you will see that they are not happy and become shaddows of thier former self, it just breaks thier spirit, its sooooo sad.
