Dont give up hope!!

You have to try and enjoy the time you have left it may be a lot longer than you think .

Once the Vet finds something to help with the pain etc she may improve a quite a bit

I know what I said wont be easy, but you have try.

When I thought Cookie was going to Die Last year I spent a Few Days Crying then thought Im wasting her life feeling so crap, so I let her do what she wanted let her upstairs(Never been in up there in 6years) Get on the Sofa etc and just enjoyed her so much more.

At the moment it seems like a miracle, but she looks like she is going to be ok, the Specialist Vet has only ever seen 2 Dogs in 12 years improve as Cookie has.(She does not have same problem as your Dog tho,but still)

So pray for a miracle they do sometimes happen

Still waiting for the final test results, was hoping it would be today but looks like I will have to wait until tomorrow afternoon.
Polly is acting strangely (for her) and her eating habits are slowing down noticeably. Usually she hoovers up her food in under a minute and the bedtime Bonio goes in seconds. She's taking her time today.......
Had a wobbly moment looking at the breed notes in this week's DW (dated 7th) where her greatest result, winning the Veteran Stakes at the Swords show, is reported. I am so proud of her going out at the top but in despair that she is going downhill steadily now
Better get off to bed now, my last day off tomorow, back to work on Monday.

Would you believe it, she was bouncing around this morning like a puppy and play fighting with Deccy!
Not for long though. She came out on the morning walk but again, got tired quickly and I thought I might have to carry her home but she plodded beside me and when she felt more rested, trotted ahead again. It's as if she is not letting this beat her. I noticed how thin she is getting and she is eating more slowly now.
The vet says she can come to the show tomorrow as I can park right next to the ring (no benching in Ireland) and she can be just as comfortable as she is at home, with the added interest of being able to go on short walks around the showground and discover some new smells! Polo will be with her too and I will only be out of the motorhome long enough to trot Deccy round.
My fellow exhibitors, who are all very anxious about her and too scared in some cases to ring me in case they get upset as well, will be able to visit her. She will like that.

Bless her The spirit is willing, and even if the body is a bit weak doesn't mean that she is not just as mentally alert as ever. I am sure she will enjoy her outing and meeting old friends.

Hope you both have a good day

A big thank you to everyone who has replied on this thread, and to those who sympathise but haven't posted, that counts as well. It's a great help to us knowing that there are such good people out there giving support.
The vet has just rung, he now knows what the infection is so I am off in a moment to pick up some anti biotics. I have to split them up, normally Polly weighs 26kg-27kg but I weighed her this afternoon and she is 23kg. Mustn't give her too much as it will give what remains of her kidneys a harder job.
The vet said she could last any time from a week to a year, it's impossible to tell with this problem but we'll see if we can clear up the accompanying infection then he will put her on steroids which will ease the strain on the kidneys a bit and cheer her up I hope.
I'l keep you all up to date until she stabilises or the worst happens.
