It`s Ok, Shona - if you look at the photo at the foot of the page you`ll see the GSD has had his features carefully hidden!

eta: although I notice they`ve left Tony Blair recognisable!

Not now, my brother did 30 years and would have done more. A friend has two sons though, who she's very proud of. They both wanted to be in the army too, to fight for their country, they signed up, they trained up, they knew we were under a terrorist threat, so they couldn't sit in a nice comfy armchair in the officer's mess drinking beer, they needed to do the job they had signed up to do? Women do it too, because they want to do it, otherwise they wouldn't sign up would they? That is what our army is for I thought? Same as the overworked policeforce. Look at the c*ap they have to put up with nowadays, it's a wonder they don't all walk away, but they don't, they're in it for the long slog, same as our army guys!

Like I said, anything in the SUN should be taken with a pinch of salt

so would you agree, that anything that can help these people do there jobs is a good thing, given the choice of your brothers life or a dogs which would you pick,

all of the jobs you state are terrible jobs in many ways, I take my hat off to the lot of them

This reminds me of all the 'dolphins trained to kill divers' and seals trained to attach mines to ships hooplah. All turned out to be a hoax as well...

Believe me they would not use this cameras on heads tactic. It's rubbish. Clearly a hoax or deliberate misinformation.

They do have robots for this sort of thing, both aerial and land drones. The sheer cost of training an army dog makes them actually more valuable than the robots, not less. Add to that the cost of the specialist training required for parachuting and working away would make these dogs so expensive they wouldn't dream of putting them in that much danger, not to mention the added cost of the camera and equipment and the inevitability of all of this equipment walking into enemy hands.

War is a human activity, and I reckon it should stay that way.

In fact, I think they should be left entirely to the prats who started them. When George Bush and Tony Blair wanted to fight Saddam, they should have gone over and fought him themselves. There has to be some useful purpose for a politician.
