Try looking at some deep breathing exercises, so when you are sitting there you can just focus and relax.. Also a bit of lavender oil somewhere will help you feel calm
The nurses know how embarrassing it is but you have to do it for peace of mind.

i had pre cancerous and recieved the treatment as well, they aren't nice but are needed.....
just try and relax it will be over before you know it.
theres no excuses allowed on dw for this kinda thing we will just keep telling you to book it now.
if theres no reason to think the cells might be cancerous etc you have nothing to worry about 1 of the pleasures of being a women..........

my wife had an abnormal smear and had to have excuse the spelling colposcopy treatment under a general she has now been clear for 6 years she is very nervous and has not been for hers as she should have i keep nagging her but if she had not gone in the first place god onl knows where she would be today, dont want to scare you, but these things need doing so buck up the courage and go for it its only a few mins discomfort for a few years of not worrying, i know easy for a bloke to say but i know lol

Awww you will be fine it only takes about 2 mins at the most - you will be in and out before you know it. They always book a double appointment for smears - the nurse always does it at ours - not the doctor thank god
