Harvey, I am so sorry you have lost your Baruska. Having her near you will be such a comfort, I have three dogs under various trees here. You can talk to her, take good care, Mary

A big heartfelt 'thank you' to all who've added posts since my no.35 above.

We are just beginning to get over her passing away, I intend to send a personal PM to those who are on the system when a few more days have passed, thanks to you all once again.

As I only joined Dogsey a few days ago I am sorry if I am intruding.
I am in tears as I read through this thread on the passing of your beautiful girl.
I can only echo what has been said and I send my heart felt sympathy.
The prayers posted by Tawnywolf and Helena 54 are very beautiful.
Good to hear you are feeling a little better today.

She had been having problems for three days walking and yesterday she went missing for several hours, we looked everywhere and I was outside the fence down in the creek thinking she may have got stuck down there.

She suddently appeared late afternoon (About 5pm) and was crying a bit although she could walk, OH phoned the vet about 7pm as she was still in some pain and didn't eat her dinner, but there was no one who could come out to us (We are a long way from town)

She was sleepiing at the bottom of the steps at the back of the house until about 10pm when she moved away from the house and found some shingle we had piled up near the workshop.

I went to bed at midnight (OH was already asleep) and couldn't sleep, about 1am I heard her still crying and trying to bark (but couldn't quite make it sound like a bark!) so I went out to her, it was starting to rain by then, so I got some blankets from the workshop and covered her and stroked her and calmed her down. Moving her was out of the question.

It was nearly 2am when I left her and she was quiet and breathing normally. This morning at 6am Rianna came and nudged me in bed, I thought she wanted to go out but she stayed indoors. I went out to check on Bara and she had passed away sometime between 2am and 6am.

OH will phone the vet this morning but I think we will bury her in a grave under the Linden tree in the meadow. That will be my task for today and I'm not looking forward to it

I am so sorry and my heart goes out to you. Run free with my wee Skye.

Harvey you don't have to take the time to thank any of us personally.

You have been a great support to me here on Dogsey on non dog related matters!
(yes folks he is a bit of a genius in the real non dog world!)

Think about you every day but don't want to be poking any sharp sticks into your sore bits by keeping on about it.

Don't stay AWAY whatever you do.

xx

So sorry for your loss Harvey

Baruska was a magnificent dog and we all know you did your very best for her. As has been said, you have been here for so many of us, and we're here for you if you need us too.

Run free Baruska x

/I will move this thread to the GBNF section in a day or so, so that it's easier to find in future, but feel free to post another thread there later if you like./
