My son and I took it in turns to sleep with him through the night, and once the sedation had worn off he perked up a little and had some food, although you could see the effort it took to eat it.

I spoke to the vets one more time just to be sure and what they said confirmed I was doing the right thing.

The vet was coming at noon and at 10.30 I thought I was going to have to call him sooner. He went into the garden and struggled to stand whilst passing orange diarrohea, then fell into the fence. We got him up, cleaned, and into the house on his bed where he looked really uncomfortable. Every time he tried to rest one of the others barked, so they were confined to the car.

He then settled beautifully between me & my son whilst we stroked him and he waved his 'stroke me paw' when we stopped, I almost thought he would go like that.

Anyway, the vets came and it was very peaceful, I cradled his beautiful head, whist they did what they had to, they said he appeared to go before he had the whole syringe. My poor son was so upset.

I arranged for a local company to collect him a good hour after the vets had been, and cuddled him.

They've just taken him now.

Dennis, you were a one in a million dog, RIP old friend, til we meet again xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I'll post some pics on the RIP page
