And there are many people who just prefer a mongel or cross bred to pedigree. It may be less predicable but you have the benefit of better potential health and longevity.

Ped, designer crosses, random crosses now disguised as designer, people wanting a bit of extra cash, people just wanting something to do, people wanting to keep a pup for themselves but not regard (or may not even know about) health testing and breed standards.

THE problem is that puppy farmers, who live off of breeding dogs, and BYBs whos choose to ignore cmmon sense, wouldn't do this, therefore there would still be an alarming rate of dogs going through rescues, in fact they would see a gap in the market and breed more, so it would have absolutely no effect, if breeders stopped breeding, would it ??
So who is to blame, as the original OP asked ............................... puppy farmers and BYBs.
I don't think people area aware exactly of how many puppy farmers and BYBs there are !!!

Rescues are full of crossbreeds, mongrels and unethically bred dogs, as apposed to Ethically bred dogs from good breeders.
