My Xmas tree in the old flat. A not very vigorous Fig Tree! The fairy you see couldn't go on top she bowed it down.
But I've been putting that fairy on my tree since well before my kids were born. I've had her for nearly fifty years and Martin throws a right wobbly if SHE isn't on our tree! She's had lots of new frocks and a few new wings (her original wings were just silver painted card). She is one of the old plastic fairies with jointed arms.
(this should give you a fair idea of my idea of Xmas decs - designer themes don't come ANYWHERE into it!) it's all about tradition and stuff we've had for decades!
*Jen would have a fit if the Santa you see just above the stockings wasn't on the tree. She bought him when she was a little kid. She used to be allowed to buy ONE new tree decoration every year. I've still got them all. I will be taking him to Reading with me.
The knitted stocking is a musical one - so old now it even SOUNDS rusty when playing Jingle Bells (sounds awful) but again that's been Jen's since she was a baby.
