you could try scootering or bikejooring with them, GSP and the like love to run, by harnessing them up and giving them an outlet for their energy, you can build a bond and keep close control.

We often go for a run round Francis corner (just past Newlands corner on the North Downs ridge)

We used to do downhill mountain biking in the dark. It certainly adds to the entertainment/adrenalin content!! I am working now until Christmas then I'm off for nearly a week. Have a great run tonight!!
