For the last 15 years I have been getting more and more wary of 'distance shopping' and I now have several rules which I follow and if this means I pay more or I can't have something 'cos it's not available locally then so be it. BT did once (a few years ago) have an Indian customer service operation but I'm pleased to say that they appear to have learned their lesson and I now get to speak to people in Newcastle, some of them have a 'Geordy' accent but I don't have a problem with them, those Indians I can never understand and there's no way I'm going to waste my valuable time trying to get them to repeat what they are saying.
