On a good day, I would be relieved that was the worst that happened. There are much worse things.

hahaha rather random personality judgement! Please don't ever get a job as a phychologist! was it the bold and red? I'm not aggressive in the slightest, quite the opposite Sorry, just making my text stand out from yours in the quote

You said my decision was 'foolhardy', so I was just explaining myself, and why I think it wasn't
I wasn`t referring to your post when I said I thought spraying someone else`s dog was foolhardy. I was speaking generally. Mainly because , as I said at the start of that post, my dogs don`t bother other people or their dogs.
Stuff does happen. Dogs don`t spring from the womb (or Rescue Centre) fully trained and socialised. Unless you know the approaching dog, you can only guess the nature / intentions etc. Kicking off yourself only makes a tense situation worse.
My thoughts would be to remove my dog from a threat, not start trying to frighten someone else`s dog who might be deaf, very young, noise phobic, in rehab for abuse... or just owned by a pr*t.

but what if the dog was already being aggressive, and biting or jumping on your dog? if a dog did that to jake, then i would do whatever i could to keep him safe and if the dog has issues and is aggressive then it is the owners fault for allowing their dog to get into that situation. i wont let jake get hurt for someone elses stupidity.

she should have thanked you, not only did you protect your dog, you also protected hers,

I would have thanked you, but I would have hated myself for getting into that situation to start with.

How about if your dog ran over to an on-lead aggressive dog, and was sprayed?

Just to stir things up a bit haha.

Not at all. In fact I would be relieved that they had, if it stopped him and apologetic to the other dogs owner.
I honestly don't know hwo Jet would react to a corrector spray though. He snarls at the water spray in a bottles that some people used to use at agility if you spray him with them (got hit accidentally a few times!) so I doubt it would help the situation.

IF another dog did that to him, I'd try to walk off sharpish, if ths didn't work and I had a spray, I wouldn't hesistate to use it to protect me and me dog.

If the aggressive dog is on the lead and the other dog rushes up then one way or another something is going to happen - it is very rude behaviour on the part of the owner to allow an off lead dog to rush up to an on lead dog IMO. (even if it not dog aggressive)

I would be confused, because my offlead dog isn't aggressive and if the owner felt they didn't want him near she should have told me and I'd call him over to me, he would only be a couple of metres away from me at the most and wouldn't ever run to the other side of the field.

If it happened to my bitch who I keep on a lead and she had somehow got free, I wouldn't mind at all and be grateful for their action, I'm pretty sure she wouldn't get aggresive towards the owner, instead would be laid flat out on the floor till I got over to her because she's not keen on the spray which I've never actually used on her, but of course near her like the other day on another dog..

It's quite surprising (or maybe it's not) how many owners (dogs) have zero recall though.
