Just been on bbc news scotland website, which says
"The dog is now being cared for by the SSPCA after being checked by vets. "

At least that means that he is still alive, though still not sure exactly what state he is in.

I probably should have copied the full article, but thought most of it repeated what we already knew. However, have just noticed that at the end it says

"Lothian and Borders Police said the arrest was a direct result of Wednesday's media appeal by the force. "

Helena, put a smile on my face too. The trouble is my understanding is that unless he signed the dog over, the SSPCA will have to keep it until the outcome of the court case is known.
I can't see any sane judge letting the man have the dog back, but then judges do do some strange things

In the meantime, the dog has to remain with the SSPCA - MUCH better than being with him, but not as good as being able to be immediately rehomed.

Shall we get a petition on the go then to send to this judge in the hope that he'll see sense and not let this b**tard have him back, nor any other poor dog come to that!!!??? Can we do that somehow??? I'd feel a whole lot better if we did!

Difficult to know....if he has already signed the dog over, there would be no need. I don't know enough about the ins and outs of how it all works.

I've just been on the SSPCA website, but they nothing about this story on there yet.
