I was sent so many wonderful poems when I lost my beloved GSD Sharna.

Here are two of my favourites.

I AM NOT THERE

Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn's rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there, I did not die.

I STOOD BY YOUR BED

I stood by your bed last night,
I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying,
You found it hard to sleep.

I whined to you softly
As you brushed away a tear,
"It's me, I haven't left you,
I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."

I was close to you at breakfast,
I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times,
Your hands reached down to me.

I was with you at the shops today,
Your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels,
I wish I could do more.

I was with you at my grave today,
You tend it with such care.
I want to re-assure you,
That I'm not lying there.

I walked with you towards the house,
As you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you,
I smiled and said "It's me."

You looked so very tired,
And sank into a chair,
I tried so hard to let you know,
That I was stand there.

It's possible for me,
To be so near you every day.
To say to you with certainty,
"I never went away."

You sat there very quietly,
Then smiled, I think you knew…
In the stillness of that evening,
I was very close to you.

The day is over…
I smile and watch you yawning,
And say, "good-night, God Bless,
I'll see you in the morning."

An when the time is right for you,
To cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to greet you,
And we'll stand, side by side.

I have so many things to show you,
There is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out…
Then come home to be with me.

Beautiful poems, must have brought a tear to your eye Moobli remembering your sad loss too. To me,there's no other bond quite as special as the one held with a gsd, being such "people" dogs they would gladly give their life for you the need arose. No wonder they call them a one man dog, it's very true. Thanks Moobli, I loved reading those.xx

If it just a little comfort to you Helen, then I am pleased.

Yes GSDs are a breed apart, that's for sure.

Just wanted to say a big thankyou to everyone who has got me through this thus far. I know I've said it before, but I'll say it again, I REALLY couldn't have got through the pain without all the friendship and compassion shown to me by everyone here. Suffice to say, I'm getting better day by day thanks to your help, and you guys are much needed elsewhere now, so I'll just say my thankyou and buzz off from here now. Awwwwww you all overwhelmed me with your kindness here. xxxxx I'm not going anywhere, I'll be around, and by next week I'll be back in force proper with my own pc up and running. Apologies for all the things I've missed on here of late, but most of you know how busy things have been here for me. Take care all of you, I will never forget how good you've been to me and for me this week.xxxxx
