I watched it for ages from the front of the house, there are no lights here so it was very bright. What surprised me, as I have no knowledge of these events, was how the blue middle part changed intensity constantly, and the red rim was "flaring", it wasn't a clean shadow at all.
The traffic from the nearby main road disappeared - I think everyone stopped to look at it - a fox barked, the cows around me were a bit restless but otherwise no great reactions.
We have a clear sky here tonight and there must be a million stars out as well.

I missed it by the time I had caught the thread it was just a small dark patch at the edge of the moon, photos are great though, wish I had seen it,
