Face of kindness? she's as mad as a hatter Syd is the gentle sensible one.
Seriously though, I knew what I was taking on and made a very conscious decision that these two were going to be the best behaved most well trained dogs I have ever owned. That at no time would anyone be able to pass negative comments about them due to lack of training. Some people have been quite shocked when they meet them as to how well behaved they are. All the hard work has paid off and they are a joy to walk, even Rio in season has been so well behaved and obedient. She hasn't faltered once.

Hi trouble, well done,
I had an intresting conversation with Ian who attends the training club, on Monday night, he said he had never been fond of rotts, but after seeing how mine are and also watching the pups at the club he had changed his mind, he said he had no idea how soft they could be and was surprised to see how eager they were to learn, often he thought out shining the other dogs as they so want to please there owners,
It was nice to see someone who thought so badly of them change there views, that said unfortunatly they dont all get the socialisation and training which is essential,

I'm a big fan of Rotties:smt007 I think big dogs generally are pretty misunderstood by the general public, most are pretty soft and gentle when owned by the right people. The number of people we have met that have had to change their opinion about Dobermanns is pretty staggering. They've all watched too many bad films.

Takara's not too bad at jumping up, she still mouthes slightly which I hate, but dad encourages it however she has got better since he started walking her of a night time for me.

Lead walking is her problem - she can do it, but doesn't have a long enough attention span to keep it up.

She stopped jumping up at people but still does it ever so occasionally - and still jumps at me for some reason even though I discourage her more than anyone else...

The only "problem" I have is that my collie tends to have a dab at sheep when they are moving quickly and he is flanking them. We are working on it at training though, so hopefully it will be worked out soon.

my naughty misty gets so excited when people come in he jumps up + down like a mad hatter but mainly not on people + because of his size he could quite easily knock you over so we been using one of those collars with a lead in to help him not jump getting there

Hi moobli, sorry for being thick, not up to speed on terms of sheep dogs, can you tell me what dab is? should know that as my mates are farmers with working sheep dogs is it gripping?

Sorry know there has to be one of us but can we have an "other" and "mixture" in the poll as one of my dogs has 3 of those things as her main problems and others.

Not thick at all ... dab is a word that I have used (not a technical term), just because he is grabbing a mouthful of wool on his way round the sheep, but it isn't as hard as a grip

Oscar is at times selectively deaf with regards to recall, but we have been practising, and he is improving.
He had until recently pulled like a train on the lead but since using the retractable lead, he now seems content to walk nicely on the way to the park knowing that he will get a good run while there.
He is not aggressive with other dogs at all, being still a pup, he is quite submissive really.
The big problem is that he loves people and when they visit he is just all over them.
