Thanks everyone for all your good wishes! they really are keeping me going!

Murph went at about 11 am and jumped in the back of the car that had come to collect him so happily! He took with him his favourite teddy so he's got familiar smells. To be honest and knowing Murph like I do, he's such an easy going, adaptable dog he'll have no problem...it's us that feel the gap!

This must be such a sad time for you but at least you saw him go looking happy... I don't really know what else to say apart from I think you're such a great person for putting Murph's needs first!

Totally agree with everyone's sentiments, Ruth you are very brave and a selfless person which I totally admire.

May Murph play happily in his new home, and that you will be able to smile with all the memories you have of him.

Big hugs to you, I know it'll be painful right now. You are a great person!

That must have been so difficult for you, but well done - you have absolutely done the right thing and I am sure Murphy will be fine. Sounds lovely a home in the country, lots of great smells for him to discover!

I really admire you, you obviously care very deeply for him (love the idea of you getting him a Christmas present) - rest assured he will be fine.
