I'm so so sorry to be reading this. He was a truly handsome boy. I lost mine 11 days ago, age 10 yrs & 11 months, not to GDV, but it was still a surprise. So I sort of know how you must be feeling right now..... Takes a while to sink in when you've had them so long.

Take comfort if you can in the great life you gave him x

I'm so sorry. I so felt for your description of how you loved him, I know that feeling, I even love Honey's smelly fur when she needs a bath. What can anyone say? I don't know you, but I'm thinking of you, he was a truly beautiful dog.

How dreadful for you I lost Pepper (my 11 year old Dalmador) in December, so I know the pain you are feeling.
I read a beautiful poem the day she was put to sleep (I hope you don't mind be posting it, it brought me comfort).

IF IT SHOULD BE

If it should be that I grow weak
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then you must do what must be done,
For this last battle cannot be won.

You will be sad, I understand.
Don't let your grief then stay your hand.
For this day, more than all the rest,
Your love for me must stand the test.

We've had so many happy years.
What is to come can hold no fears.
You'd not want me to suffer so;
The time has come -- please let me go.

Take me where my need they'll tend,
And please stay with me till the end.
Hold me firm and speak to me,
Until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time that you will see
The kindness that you did for me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I've been saved.

Please do not grieve -- it must be you
Who had this painful thing to do.
We've been so close, we two, these years;
Don't let your heart hold back its tears.

Oh I am so sorry to read this

Jeager was such a gorgous boy and I've enjoyed all the photos you've posted of your special friend.

It must have been such a shock, I could tell from your posts what a special bond you shared.

So sorry X
