Steve, I think we go to the same county park as you do and have had similar embarrasing things o those pinic tables including Ernie sat on the seat, and as soon as my back was turned he took a bite out of my piece of cake! Laods of people saw him do it and were killing themselves laughing!

My sister (Tracey) came with me with her little Boxer puppy 'Lola',so she would be socialised with other dogs and she loved it.After Vegas had been swimming in the lake with other doggies,we wandered upto the cafe for a coffee and i tied his lead around one of the picnic benches outside with Tracey.

As i was walking towards the door with coffees,i could see Tracey trying to pull Vegas off the damn picnic table! People were laughing at him cause he sat there loud & proud watching the world go by.I know his previous owners allowed him to do as he pleased, but couple of people said (while i was inside cafe and Tracey told me what they said)-"he's not been trained very well".All i did was say to him "Vegas-down" and he immediately got down onto the ground.

She did justify Vegas's actions by explaining to them that i havent had him long and im having to undo the bad habits he has been allowed to get away with. He's getting better, but we still have a long way to go with regards to jumping up/getting on furniture/recall,but do wish people wouldnt automatically assume its from lack of my training.Training bad habits out of an adolescent dog isnt as easy as some may think!

Aww you are doing an excellent job with him Steve. If I saw a dog do this I would be laughing my head off not commenting on its training, or lack of it, where is their sense of humour

My sister has a bichon who she says we can have as a friend for Benji if we want, but I am not too sure because he is so badly trained. He is allowed on the furniture (which ours isn't ) he chases after people who run, especially joggers and barks at their ankles (Benji would never dream of doing this and only goes up to people if they have a dog with them and then only if the dog gives friendly signs, if not he leaves it alone) He has soo many bad habits that I don't feel that I would be able to train them out of him so easily.

Funny thing is,as i was just opening the door,i thought to myself-damn,i gotta hoover the house now,but didnt expect this all again!

Now i've got to remember to shut the bathroom door when leaving him alone!

lol you have to think to yourself Steve that you are a bored dog looking for distraction you spy something that is soft and fluffy and floats around in the air when you tear it up...so you can catch it great fun!! Next comes something that smells faintly of master and tickles when you chew it ..well thats a good hour gone..won't be long until master is home

Vegas is a cracker! I think his personality is great. To be honest i would much rather have a dog like vegas who was a lil bit naughty than a boring dog who always obeyed! makes life a bit more fun!
