Helper does things like carry the paper home from the shop, brings her post to in the mornings which is also her wake up call, the dog even turns the kettle on for her, and these are just a few of the things she mentioned.

Her husband died in December last year and they never had any Kids, so Helper is the only family member she has left. Helper is 8 years of age.

She was crying on the phone to me, telling me that if this dog is taken from her she will literally die.

oh bless this is what i mean they need to do something other than target a breed of dog! it's insane

People like this poor old lady are the ones who are going to suffer the most. Not the morons they will think nothing of getting rid of their dogs and getting another breed not on the list and do the same with them until they get banned. And on and on it will go.

Dublin city council needs to come clean about this specialist, localised situation and not cause even bigger problems by switching it to a "dangerous dogs" issue. It's dangerous owners!!!!!!
Exactly; Rather than deal with the real issues they end up making up stupid rules such as this in order to appear to be dealing with the issue. It's a total cop out. They realise that dealing with the heart of the issue is a difficult and time consuming task; Instead they choose to appear to be taking action by taking this kind of action when it's never, ever gonna really deal with whats actually going on.

I am also shocked to read in MBll's post that assistance dogs will also fall under these new rules!! I would have to assume that Guide dogs would be the same? GSDs are a breed that is used for both jobs.....

....... I'm searching for words to type here; but god; I'm speechless at the stupidity of the powers that be!!!!!

I'm just speachless!.....
Why cant they assess the dogs? This would show the responsible owners. What's going to happen to the 'working dogs' guide dogs, hearing dogs etc?
Would be interesting if any council members/workers have dogs? Where would they walk them?

That's bloody discussing, surely it would be better to just deal with all those irresponsible owners who leave their dogs tied up and the people who have horses in their front gardens as pets.

Sorry folks but if Sussex council decided that they were going to try and bring in a law that said "No one was allowed to own Dobermans" than I was end up having to sell my house and just move down to my villa in Spain. Because there is no way on the planet I would have my dogs destroyed.
