Thanks for all the replies. I've decided to not start looking now as it's too soon, and i'm away a lot until october anyway.

My plan is over winter to start looking for a small companion breed, in all honesty my current thought is a pug or a tibetan spaniel, but if it ends up another CKC i go for (which is highly possible!) then it's a CKC, might look at a king charles spaniel too for something similar but just a bit different! we'll see. I'll keep you all posted

We lost our Clementine (Clemmy) 19th of September 2012.

It was on our vets advice we took on another rescue,(our Clemmy was also a rescue) as soon as possible.
He said it would help our Grieving, and so it is helping us...

On the same day we picked up our Clemmy's ashes from the vet,we went on to pick up our new rescue...
Poppy we have named her (A Staffie
She is about two and a half years old.
White and Chocolate brown patches.

She is as adorable as our Clemmy, and our love for her is flowing through to our new little rescue girl...

As others have said here on this thread,we are a couple who have always had a dog,and we can't be without the soul of a precious dog in our house...

Poppy is proving to be a very happy, affectionate loving dog,who just wants her cuddles,a warm bed, food, walks, and lot's of love...

We have so much love we can give her,and she shows us she feels the same...

It is, as has been said already,an individual choice...

So pleased we made that choice...

we did exactly the same as I could not be without my dogs and it does help when you can focus on new members of the family....

As everyone else has said, it really is how you feel yourself.
I had a couple/ few weeks gap between loosing my old dog to getting Flint.

PS- Smokeybear, sorry to hear you lost Twiggy, I had no idea x
