This may sound sick, but I've found it highly effective. Expressions of shock and horror. When a dog does something wrong I shriek, OMG what are you doing? Ex. the dog is making off with one of the babies toys; I shriek, AHHHH, what are you doing ? The dog immediately drops the toy (not in a mean voice, but a shocked and horrified one)

I've found that working on obedience EVERY day keeps the dogs under my control the best. When I've skipped days training or practising I've noticed my dogs start responding to commands slower with an impatient air, so I try to keep them practising everyday, even if for only 15 minutes.

I don't know anything about the clicker training, but it sounds interesting.

[c]Warning[/c]

Posted this elsewhere a short while ago, but as it is a warning I will post it again - do not shout 'leave it' or 'drop it' if you can't see where the dog is or what it is he is carrying. He may be out on the concrete apron and he may have your favourite vase. :smt010

Help how do I centre

Thordell, I'll have to remember that. All I do is shriek, "Ahhh" and he drops it. I never thought about him grabbing something breakable

Just caught up on your post and I don't know if it is common with all dogs but mine seem to go for things I have handled not long before. The phone, the TV clicker, the coffee mug, the toilet roll and if on a rare occasion I have been dusting, the ornaments :smt105
