Money invested in it... but does that actually mean you legally own a percentage? Are you on the deeds? Are you joint tenants or tenants in common? Do you have a declaration of trust if the house gets sold that says you get you investment back if it is not actually part of the house..... otherwise that's shaky ground Snorri.

I am sorry for your problems, I really hope it gets sorted.
Yes, you say 'we bought it' so you must be on the deeds, and if you are joint tenants you can choose to sell. If you are tenants in common you can still do so as long as there are only two of you who own the house. If three do you need two to agree to sell.

You def do need to keep your solicitor onto this.

Even if he's not on the deeds I think because of the length of time he's been there he has a claim on a % of the house, I'd defo ask a lawyer....

My name is not on the deed, unfortunately - this was all done when she was trustworthy (which she isn't, now) and I don't want to see the place sold - I just want to go back to live in it, as I have a right to do. As things are, she has (effectively) stolen the grant money and a chunk of my money. And every sentence I've heard from her in MONTHS has started with "I want..."

How long did you live in the house, Snorri? You still have 'rights'. What has your solicitor said? You cannot be left with nothing if you lived there and participated in the upkeep and, more importantly, had it altered to suit your needs.

No particularly good news - the mediating service seems to be trying to distance itself, so I guess it's time to find out what the law will do. I even sent her a text about her Xmas present, but she didn't even respond to that. I will be phoning my solicitor tomorrow.

PS My carer Ronnie drove the body of Kali out to the house, to bury him - she acted as though she didn't even want him buried there!

That all sounds terrible.

It never rains Snorri.

I think I'll be up in March so that's my date for a wee dram

I'm so sorry that there is no good new.
Hopefully your solicitor will be able to get things moving.
