At the end of the day you're just buying a service from a club albeit the KC. Your just paying for the KC to recognise a word you've submitted and then continue to pay them so that no one else can register it with the KC. So the KC can govern that. What other societies/clubs/companies do that don't come under the umbrella of the KC I would imagine would be hard to fight legally. I think it would only stand up if for instance someone was using your affix and portraying to be you as a breeder and would come under a fraud offence.
