The book was interesting, but later chapters made some generalisations I wouldn`t support.
I would recommend:-
'How Dogs Think: Understanding the Canine Mind' by proffessor Stanley Conran'

I liked it because he is mostly quoting from a lot of research that has been done in America, UK, & Australia and only occassionaly puts forward his own theories and he doesn't generaise either. It is a bit 'heavy going' in places but IMO worth reading.

A better book than Fogles one I would think.

He was on Martin Clunes' programme last night, in case anyone's still wondering!

He's just seems to be one of those people that thinks cos he's got a gob and a qualification, we all want to hear his opinion!

He also writes in Dogs Today and my God, he doesn't half come out with some drivel!

His articles in Dogs Today are a pile of poo and his son is an irritating git.

Picked up one of his guides to dog breeds books in a pet shop which claimed that Swedish Elkhounds are popular pets in the UK. Erm...are there ANY SE breeders in the UK? I doubt it. The guy doesn't seem to know an awful lot about what he writes about.

I'm pretty positive that Loki's Mum has Norwegian Elkhounds, which aren't that common either!
