Fiona! I hate the hairdressers! And I mean hate it!

I hate the small talk, the "fanciness" and generally just the whole process of getting it done. I'm taken right out of my comfort zone and feel really self conscious when I'm in there.

Luckilly, my aunt works in the hairdressers I use, has done for god knows how many years. She's self employed in the shop and has her own chair, so to speak. She pays a percentage every year for her place in the shop and is one of the most expensive there, this also includes the assistance of the juniors. If I didn't get my hair done for nothing, I wouldn't be able to afford to go to her regularly.

As my aunt doesn't wash my hair after the colour has been put in, I to tip the girl who washes it £2. It's usually the same girl and she's really nice. She gives it a right good scrub and you know she's been thorough!

Glad you managed to brave it today! Well done you! Hope you feel a bit more comfortable the next time you go.

I tip my hairdresser about £5. When I take the kids I just throw a couple of £ in the pot.

I know it's an old thread, but I always tip my hairdresser, I always round it up to the nearest 5 or 10, she's a lovely lady and always does a great job, if I have to see someone else (she only works Mondays and Fridays and sometimes I might need something doing for a special occasion e.t.c.) then I will tip if they do a particularly good job, the reason I always go to the same lady (she works in a salon with other hairdressers) is because she does such a super job every time and I have had hairdressers who don't listen to what you want or just do it their way and I have had a few haircuts I have came away totally not happy with so was glad to find Judith, she's great.
