I already have a dachshund x and a little basset x and they are quite a handful. I don't think a poodle will survive with those two monsters.

Glad you decided against it. The three breeds mixed together although as many have said we've all seen great characters in these breeds but I just wouldn't chance it with a baby on the way.

A staffy would be nice, but I need a dog that can keep the scum out of my yard. I live in sunny South Africa and we need all the protection we need. My hubby works shifts and I really want a dog would kill to protect us when hubby is not home.

I think it for the best!! I don't want to chance the dog attacking my kids.

Tell you what I'll tell you how I went about pets with my boy.First of all he had hamsters, thought to myself it will teach him to be gentle handling pets because better a wee hamster nibbling on him than a cat or a dog. Then I got him a cat when he was around a year old,he still has Domino and she's 19 now.
All his life though he was around Dobes as my parents had them.He never pestered me for a dog,it was me who decided to get one when a rescue came up and lo and behold it was an old cocker and he was brilliant with her.Hope this helps you, xxxxxxxxxxxx

That sounds like a brilliant plan. I'll just skip the hamster stage and I don't like them at all. They give me the hibby-jeebies!!

Poodles are very tough they've beaten up Percy plenty of times! Can't blame me for trying!
