Thanks Patch

I dont think we will ever compete with rose, dont think she could handle the crowds and being around so many other dogs and not being allowed to herd them

so do you think we should take her to a class or just teach her ourselves in the garden?

I definately believe classes are best. While there is certainly a lot people can do at home, there are an awful lot of bad habits handlers can get into without a good instructors guidence, especially as an instructor can observe the handlers body language and how the dog responds, thats something a handler just can`t do on their own, and well structured classes will help you a great deal. Also, instructors [ good ones ], are fully versed in the safety side of training and the equipment so it really is the best way to go.
There are lots of handlers who are not interested in competing but the training should be the same in terms of safety and good handling, so if you can get to a club its definately the best thing to do.
Once they have started you off, you will feel much more confident when training at home as well
Look for clubs with small classes which would be good for socialisation as well.
You never know, Rose might just suprise you with how much she can cope with, especially if she really takes to it - there are many very herdy collies in agility but once they are in the ring, [ if the handler does decide to give competing a go ], they are often soooo focussed on the equipment that all thoughts of herding other dogs or people are left outside the ring
So I`d say give classes a go - I dare ya

Knowing Rose she will suprise us, so she will probaly not only cope with competing but love it.
Its already been a very intresting 13months with her, what works for her one week dosent work the next, when you expect her to be good shes naughty and when you think she'll be naughty she acts like an angel, shes came on leaps and bounds in some ways but not others, shes definetley been a challange... sorry going off topic lol

If i can find a good one within an hour that is right for rose and on a suitible day, i will give it a go... once i get my driving lisence.... which should be very soon(hopefully)
