OMG you have just saved me such a lot of trouble, sure enough the microsoft Works Suite was in the box I'll now try to load it!!!!!

I'd still be very interested to hear about adobe, I've got it on the computer but am hesitating to confirm acceptance and uplaod it as I don't know what it is. Can anyone give me a simple explanation?

It's for reading PDF files, a lot of online instructions and manuals are in PDF format so it's worth installing

I'm really sorry to ask and show how computer illiterate I am but what does PDF stand for?

Again a really big thank you to all, I now have Word etc.

Another question which is the better photo package to use Microsoft Photo Premium or snapfish?

Bearing in mind I want to both print the photos and be able to easily post pics on this website.

PDF = Portable Document Format
This link explains what it is better than i ever could
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PDF
everyone who wants to get the most from the web should have Adobe Reader installed and it's free so might as well install it

As for photo editors now you're talking my language
Both are very different products Microsoft one is an editor and snapfish is a photo sharing and printing service so might as well install both
