Try using the LONGEST comb attachment and start at the base of his neck and go BACKWARDS towards just above his eyebrows. This should make the hair short, but long enough to stand up. You can scissor into a ball style after that. Also, cut the hair around his ears so that eventually just the tipr of his ears peek out his head. Does that make ANY sense!!!

Gems, you really want his head hair to stand up and be spikey. Put your clippers where his collar would lie and face the comb towards his ears and run the clipper right up and over his head.
