Its a pity you live nowhere near me, I have an almost complete bag of Wafcol salmon and potato which doesnt suit Hedley. I expect I will keep it and see if he goes for it later on.

Sorry if I have suggested this before, have you tried Fish4Dogs Salmon mousse? If he likes tuna he might take to this, and it would perhaps mix in with the soaked wafcol?

Youve just reminded me of this old time remedy for diarrhoea - arrowroot.

My mum used to mix it with milk and feed it me on a spoon when I was little if I had diarrhoea. I might get some in, it would be a useful standby for all the family, dog and human!

In my experience a grumbly tummy does not always mean the dog is hungry, it can mean the tummy is quite off. I can sympathise with the poster.

Has your vet did a full blood profile lately?
It was me who has mine on Royal Canin Intestinal and it is definitely RC. It's damn expensive but it's the only thing he doesn't throw up on.

If I were you I would stop changing so often as going from one thing to another isn't going to be helping him (it definitely makes Oscar worse).

If need be just keep him on boiled rice and fish or chicken and keep on with that. You're going to be really confusing his guts as it is.

I'd go back to your vet and talk about referral. I know Bob isn't insured but he needs a specialist to look at him. In terms of biopsies, they can be taken during endoscopy or open surgery depending on what they need to do. Oscar had them during open surgery. He may need an endoscopy but that depends on if/when he gets sick again. We know there tends to be an issue just beneath his stomach as his barium x-rays showed that.

Bob needs a stable diet in really small meals and an expert opinion - perhaps your vet knows an internal medicine person they can speak to on the phone - ours posted x-rays to one and then talked on the phone to him about what to do next which saved a difficult trip and a huge bill.

Hi
Had confirmation today he has severe ibd in small bowel and moderate in large bowel - only 2 and half yrs old.
Have been feeding him naturediet which he loves. Now specialist is talking hills z/d - and steroids etc.

Anyone have experience of zd - really dont want to change as he has been doing well on ND turkey and rabbit - dry doesnt agree as he is always worse on dry food. Never mind the cost of z/d, it is a nightmare also re the steroids

Advice welcome

To All
Biopsies back - he has severe IBD in small bowel, moderate to severe in large bowel and mild in abdomen.

So, specialist is now saying steroids, hills z/d diet change - bit worried about changing as he has been doing well on naturediet rabbit one. i said to her he doesnt do dry food well it seems to make him worse....

finally a diagnosis, but how to treat now

Poor Bob, and poor you. Not exactly the news you wanted to hear, but at least it explains a few things.

No advice, just some hugs to give x0x
