2 medical issues come to mind. autoimmune thyroiditis. and a neck/pain problem. first is diagnosable by blood test. 2nd with a vet who does chiropractic. see www.vomtech.com

I have also seen some aggression resolve with natural diets. this may mean that chemicals, preservatives etc are causing the problem. certainly happens in children

Am I the only one who thinks that there is something not quite right about this thread?

I think it`s just that the OP isn`t allowing for the fact that we don`t know her or her situation and is assuming we know what she means - i.e. not allowing for the fact that we might be a bit dim or have just woken up!
A few questions have been asked which it might be helpful to have answers to -
how much training / socialisation does the dog get now?
Do many people handle the dog?
What was going on when the dog growled at the child?
Was the kennel the dog stayed at the same one her neighbour works at? (e.g. is the dog now associating the neighbour with kennels?)
This seems like a lot of recent changes - or is it? We`ve no idea of timescale.

Yeah it seems there is a very common link when the dog snapped at ATD - it's all about collars/leads and the neck area (which makes me think either there is a medical problem which could not be diagnosed without examination, or that something happened at the kennels but as there is a link i don't see any reason at this moment why this couldn't be corrected with a trainer/behaviourist) but it would be helpful to know what the child was doing when the dog growled. Sorry to check aswell - has the dog only done this once with the child?

Training i guess on a day to day scale, socialisation? we walk her as often as possible and take her for swims weekly so she gets to socialise with other pople and dogs.

No, not a lot of poeple are handling her, just my self and the occasions when ATD did.

She was eating her james Wellbeloved and my son was playing music to me on a toy he got.

No, the Kennels were differant to the ones where ATD works in, we thought it was at first cos poppy could smell other dogs on ATD after her soming in from work, but even when she had not been to work, thus did not have anyother scents on her, poppy still snapped out at her.

It has all happened since August, which was when she went into the kennels for a week.

Hope that answers some questons for you.

Just to let you know, there is a springer spaniel specialist/behavioursit coming to see us tomorrow. So i will keep you posted on what he suggested.

Good luck with this. I`d be interested to know what the behaviourist thinks. It`s all very odd!
