thanks that was interesting, now I am even more confused than I was

Three cups of the 28% puppy food would contain 105 grams of protein. Four cups of the 24% adult dog food would contain 120g of protein
So a puppy food is better then?

Depends on how much protein your puppy needs. LOL!! All of the articles I found were more confusing than informative. Urrrrh!!

Puppy protein

Of the bazillion articles I just skimmed they all seem to agree that the level of protein isn't as important as the source.

I have put teagan onto Burns.
I mailed them and told them her breed, weight, age, and that she has been spayed, and asked which food to feed her.
They sent me a really long helpful e-mail, giving me lots of advice!

Hevvur are you feeding the puppy or adult version?

Burns are great at helping you out I just found it hard to keep weight on Star with their normal version.

Macey was three months when we got her and I bought a bag of puppy Autarky which is still in the cupboard !
But when Murph was little -I fed him large breed puppy till he was about 5 months and then switched to a lower protein food -they need the protein to grow and for their bones etc but at 5 months just knocking the protien down to 20 % took a bit of the 'hyper' ness off him ( slightly lol )
TBH I think you can bamboozle yourself senseless when you start reading all the labels and percentages I would just start pup off on a good quality food and see how they go

I feed both my dogs on Nutro, Bailey was on Nutro puppy till he was 9 months old and then I switched to adult, I'm sorry I cant remember the protein levels and I pour the kibble into a bin so cant tell you the adult levels either

I can tell you that both dogs have done great on it, I switched Blue onto it when I saw how glossy Baileys coat was compared to Blues who was on Autarky at the time, and since he has switched his coat looks fab and his skin has improved too, he was a little flaky before but no problems at all now
