Thanks everyone. It was a surprisingly good day. We had a very personal service where friends and family sharing memories etc, some had written poems. We had people from her work, from the dance school she was involved in, very old friends, all sorts. Nearly everyone managed to come up with a few things that made us chuckle. It was nice, mum wouldn't have wanted doom and gloom. The flowers were absolutely beautiful, one set had her actual tap dancing shoes incorporated into a posy ring. All purple flowers, her favourite colour. The only down side was there was a mess up with one of the songs, but otherwise it was perfect.

We only ordered enough church orders of service and buffet for the wake for 50 people....around 100 showed up I knew she was well loved, but I didn't expect that many people to turn up. Some people had to stand, but it was lovely and comforting to know how many people cared.

The wake was ok too. I had put together a photo wall. It had old photos like her wedding pics and an old black and white one of her winning a "Miss Fabulous Legs" contest back in the 60s things that many people had never seen and didn't know about her. It was a really nice focal point.

Honestly, it STILL hasn't really sunk in yet. Standing there staring at the "mum" flower word still didn't make it seem real. Nor visiting her before hand in the chapel of rest. But I'm sure it'll hit me sooner or later. I cried a lot at the church but we laughed and smiled too. I am pleased with how it went, it felt like a fitting send off and a proper celebration of her life.
