It wouldnt be ANY breed, but a dog that looks like the 'type' that could be classed. Some Boxer crosses and Lab crosses can look similar to Pits, but as I said earlier, the enforcing authorities should be using breed specialists or at least have trained people who know what they are looking for.

I still dont understand why they cant use DNA profiling ! They have over 100 dogs in DNA profiling, so they should test the dogs.....simple. A DNA profile is around £30-40, which is a lot cheaper than than a jab to have them euthanised !!!
is DNA breed specific?I watched a show last week that said all Canine DNA is 98percent the same the last 2percent determines size shape of nose etc can they tell the difference between a boxer and pit on DNA

And what is it they should be looking for?
According to the DDA, its that they fit the characteristics of the PB. regardless of parentage. So I dont think I said anything to suggest otherwise?

ANY breed that fits the characteristics of the PB would be destroyed by taking the action suggested by SUZE.

NO, I'm sayng If they had breed specialists, they should be looking for dogs of the PB BREED !!!

As I said before...............DNA profiling would be the only sure way and cheaper to do.

They have (I think !) 111 dogs on breed profile, which means that by a blood sample they can tell which breeds the parents and grandparents are, breed specific, as they have found the genetic markers that differentiate them.

So yes, if they have a Boxer and a Lab on file, and they tested a PB Type which was actually a cross, then it would tell them that it was a Bxer/Lab and not a Pit.

Ok, I see (I think) you think that the effort should be made to employ technology and specialists to enable the authorities to ID pitbull that are pitbull breed not pit type?

Actually I think it quite funny that the only time you post is to have a go at someone and ridicule us here in the UK for our practises !
Far from it! I quite enjoy the galleries and the contests and the health and behavior threads and post frequently.

The only threads you SEE me post on are yours, because mysteriously, if there is a controversy anywhere on Dogsey, YOU and BORDERDAWN are smack in the middle of. SO who exactly is the rabble rouser then?

I've been on the same threads as borderdawn and malady and anneuk latley and each time you come on and slag off the above posters imo if you've nowt to say on the thread dont bother your bum to post and slander those that do.
