So glad she is ok.

We had this almost happen year before last, we had taken a walk along the coastal paths whilst on holiday, If Patrick hadn't of moved as quick as he did Reah would of gone over the edge about 200ft drop into the sea she walked to close to the edge, Patrick grabbed her tail and pulled her back

We don't do coastal walks now far to dangerous, stupid of us at the time not to think about it, but there were loads of people doing the same thing with kids and dogs

''warning dogs don't have any sense when it comes to heights''
Hi MumToMany, poor Betty, I am so glad she is ok

I understand that dogs don't see the world as a humans do. They have very good vision when it comes to detecting moving objects (essential for a predator) and their night vision is much better than that of a human but they are not very good at judging distance which may account for them jumping off high places so readily.

What a scare. We know of 2 Airedales who have jumped off things, one off a wall about 10 foot high. She was OK, but has hip dysplasia which was discovered when she was taken to the vet afterwards, though I presume she already had that anyway. The other jumped off a viaduct and tragically died at the scene. I now always make sure my daft pair are on lead near any drops.

Hugs to you and your girl.

X

Thanks for all your concern, Betty has been amazingly lucky, and got away with just some soreness. we will be sticking to the beaches we know in future where we can park, and walk onto the beach with no coastal paths to walk along.
