I loved Castaway. Hate Ben Fogle since...
In fairness his dad spoke sense last night, for a change...i have to say his dad doesn't irritate me as much as Ben Fogle does. His dad's done some good stuff too (very involved with Hearing Dogs).

He wrote in a Dog's Trust book on Mongrels that crossbreeds are always better than pedigrees & that more crossbreeding should be done. No mention of health testing anywhere of course !

He also stated that GSDs were very prone to HD-funny none of mine have ever had HD that affected thir lives & were all scored under 10 or had the old HD Cert or breeders letters(Old cert means a score under 4 & the breeders letter a score between 5 & on the other hand my bred for work BC had a hip score of 68 !

That doesn't alter the fact he has also done some great work, didn't say he was perfect, did say he has doen some good stuff too.

I think his involvement can only be commended.

Yes, I didn't know he was on TV - I've just finished reading 'A Dog Abroad' which TBH was a waste of time reading. It seemed like a follow up to his 'Travels with Macy' which I've not read.

'A Dog Abroad' has not much about Macy (his dog) and a lot of rather boring stuff about all his friends in the Baltic states and plenty of 'padding' e.g. the recipes of what he had to eat at various times (Like we're interested ) but what really horrified me was the reference to the two headed dog and he included a picture. Sorry but that really upset me.

Which of his books are you refering to Claire

Oh dear oh dear, someone lock me up and throw away the key.

I've only just realised Ben Fogle & Bruce Fogle are related.
You could almost hear the penny drop.

I don't like Ben Fogle either btw, haven't read anything from Bruce Fogle but do recall him on tv.

Well don't bother with his latest 'A Dog Abroad'

I can't comment on 'Travels with Macy' as I've not read it but I think that maybe the one Claire was refering to above.

The Dog`s Mind - that was Bruce, not Ben. Ben`s the well irritating one on Crufts, yes?
The book was interesting, but later chapters made some generalisations I wouldn`t support.
