So good to read of someone taking the time to socialise their dogs nicely.
Only ever having had rescues who weren't, I honestly think its a great thing you are doing

Yeah well done Teddy...when we were walking the boys and even toro as a pup the rule of thumb we used was 5 mins for each month old they were...worked for us, but because the boys were gonna be big and had long backs we were also careful about where we walked so they didn't hurt their back jumping ditches ect., inka still managed to fracture a toe though lol lol

Yes, I'm going to follow the 5 min for each month rule as closely as possible. I know the importance of building up muscles and protecting joints especially as he's half GSD. Our very old GS lady was a rescue, sadly over rainbow bridge now, but her hips were dreadful, not just from bad breeding but also from no exercise to lots of exercise in spits and spurts before we got her. Also although Harvey is a young looking lab ( our other dog) at nearly eight he is just showing signs of bad hip joints and takes metacam in the winter when its bad.

Thanks everyone for all your comments, Teddy is loving his walks and socialising him is very important to me. He is doing fantastic. He sits at all the curbs and he sits to get a fuss as well as I won't have him jumping up at people.

He is learning so fast. He sits, sits and stays, gives his paw, comes when he's called, sits for his dinner and won't touch it until he's told he can and lays down on command to. Having trained so many dogs over the years, I have to say he's been one of easiest.
