I wouldn't prevent him entirely from using the stairs, yes restrict his access at this age but I would certainly allow him down the last step to start with. My Dachsie belts up and down stairs whenever he can. It's just a matter of being sensible and allowing him to build up the correct muscle tone to enable him to climb stairs. Preventing him from doing so could actually be counter productive.

When we go for a walk there are 5 steps to the park that he goes up and down.
I just don't let him use the ones out of the flat as they are very steep and loads of them.

That's OK then! I just think that some dogs are prevented too much from doing things that they don't get the correct muscle tone and ability.
I did nearly have a heart attack though when Percy jumped off a 3 ft high wall onto the beach!

Well Hector launched from the sofa the other night at high speed and flew across the lounge and fell in a heap.

Update on itching, i have just had a flea on my hand. YUK!! So we deffo have the little ****s.
