I was doing quite well until Monday night when I went back into a room to check that I hadn't shut him in and then just broke down when I realised what I'd done.....I'm still not sure its really sunk in that he's gone

Thanks I must admit, he already had his name when I got him together with his sister Mullet (who my OH nicknamed Pilchard because she was so daft).

But we continued the trend for naming our animals after fish - hence we now have the dogs Kip (Kipper) and Hoki. As far as I'm concerned though, there will only ever be one Halibut
